News & current affairs

• Stephen Hull, current editor in chief at Huffington Post UK, is to join ITV News as head of digital. He will head up digital strategy across the ITV News national and regional network
• The Sunday Times have announced that Ben Preston will join as an executive editor later in the year. Ben is a former deputy editor of The Times and is currently editor at the Radio Times. The move comes ahead of a planned design refresh of The Sunday Times later this month
• Laura Coates has been appointed managing editor at the Leinster Leader. She was previously deputy editor at the title. Additionally, Niamh O’Donoghue has been appointed news editor
• Sandra Coffey has been appointed deputy editor at the Galway Independent. Sandra was previously a journalist at the title
• Jamie Bullen has been appointed reporter at the Mirror Online. He was previously an online reporter at the EveningStandard Online
• Rebecca Buchan has been promoted to assistant news editor at the Press and Journal (Aberdeen). She was previously senior court reporter at the title
• David Matthews has now changed his role to Europe reporter at Times Higher Education and is now based in Berlin
• Alex Peace has been appointed crime reporter at the Bolton News. He was previously a senior reporter at the Dorset Echo
• There have been a couple of changes at the Dorset Echo. Rachel Stretton has been appointed assistant head of content and former trainee reporter Jennifer Mulcahey is now news and education reporter
• Aurelie Boinay has been appointed newsdesk assistant at the London Evening Standard replacing Katie Fremantle
• Ian Murray has stepped down as editor in chief at the Southern Daily Echo
• Sarah Carter has left her role as Preston council reporter at the Lancashire Post

 Fashion, lifestyle and entertainment

• Fashion and beauty brand InStyle has unveiled the relaunched, digital-first InStyle.co.uk. The new look website will feature a mix of fashion, beauty and lifestyle content along with celebrity and how-to videos. The new website is led by editor in chief Charlotte Moore. The final UK print edition of InStyle was published in December 2016
• Will Grice has joined The Idle Man as editor. Previously working at GQ and The Sun, Will is interested in hearing about music, film, TV, food, drink and any interview opportunities. He can be found tweeting at www.twitter.com/willgrice
• Samantha Nice has been appointed editor at Velvet magazine. She was previously editorial assistant at the title
• David Clack has been appointed UK video editor at Time Out London. He was previously senior content editor at the title
• Harriet Sime has been appointed showbiz news editor at the Daily Mail. She was previously assistant news editor at the title
• Jessica Lawrence has been appointed social media manager at the Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine
• Lawrence John has been appointed entertainment reporter at the Somerset County Gazette
• Anna Silverman has now been promoted to features writer at Grazia. She was previously junior features writer at the title
• Yvette Murrell has been appointed editorial assistant at Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Business and finance

• HMG Aerospace have announced the appointment of Mark Thomas as editor of the LARA media portfolio. Mark will lead all editorial activities across LARA’s print and online media channels
• Alex Wells has been appointed as editor at Aftermarket
• Owain Thomas has been appointed features and contributing editor at Mortgage Solutions
• Helen Reid has been promoted to stock markets correspondent at Reuters. She was previously EMEA editorial trainee at the news service
• Joanna Wright has been appointed staff writer at Risk.net. She was previously a reporter at Inside Reference Data
• Noor Nanji has been appointed city reporter at Press Association
• Emma Kennedy has left her role as money editor at the Sunday Business Post to go freelance
