• Trinity Mirror is merging two North East websites. TheJournal.co.uk will be rolled into ChronicleLive to create a regional news, sport, business and entertainment platform
• James Naughtie will become special correspondent for BBC Radio 4 in January 2016, after 21 years presenting the Today programme
• Rebecca Heyes has been appointed reporter at Somerset County Gazette
• Johnston Press plc is to buy the Brighton & Hove Independent
•  Ed Walker is to return to his role as digital development editor for Trinity Mirror’s regional websites. He was previously publisher of getreading. Lucy Thorne, who is currently deputy publisher of getreading, will take the role of publisher upon her return from maternity leave
• William Tomaney has left his role as senior reporter at Shropshire Star

• Tamara Kelly has been appointed shopping editor at house to home and The ROOM Edit. She was previously the style editor at Country Homes & Interiors
• Hannah Davies has been appointed features editor at You & Your Wedding
• Jade Leech has been appointed news and features writer at Scratch magazine
• NME launches as a free magazine from September
• Michela Colling has been appointed acting style editor at Ideal Home and Holly Catford has been appointed acting decorating and style assistant at the publication
