News & current affairs

• A number of new editorial appointments have been made across Archant’s London and Hertfordshire portfolios: Lindsay Jones has been appointed editor of the Romford Recorder, Ilford Recorder and Wanstead and Woodford Recorder portfolio, and will also be responsible for news-based specialist publications and products. Lorraine King becomes editor of the Barking & Dagenham Post, Newham Recorder and Docklands & East London Advertiser portfolio. Beth Wyatt has also been appointed senior news feature writer across the Barking-based titles. In Hertfordshire, Nick Gill has become editor of The Comet and Royston Crow portfolio, and Nina Morgan takes on the role of editor of the Herts Advertiser and Welwyn Hatfield Times portfolio
• Samantha Harman has been appointed group editor for Newsquest Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Currently deputy editor at the Dorset Echo, Samantha will take responsibility for the Reading Chronicle, the Bucks Free Press, Slough Observer and Bracknell News and digital platforms. Samantha will take up her role on 6 March
• Newsquest launched the Lewes & South Coast Argus on 9 February. The free title will be published every Thursday and follows on from the launch of the Mid Sussex Argus in January
• Alex Wellman has been appointed deputy digital news editor at Sun Online. He was previously assistant news editor at the Daily Mirror
• Richard Wheatstone has been promoted to assistant news editor at the Daily Mirror. He was previously chief online reporter at the title
• Jake Murtagh has been appointed sports news editor at Mirror Online. He was previously a sports reporter at the Daily Mirror
• Aidan Scott has been appointed online sports reporter at the Scottish Sun. He was previously a reporter at the SWNS
•  Elizabeth Archer has been appointed women’s feature writer at the Daily Express
•  Shona Gossip has been appointed news editor at the Press and Journal (Aberdeen). She was previously assistant news editor at the title
• James Slack has left his role as political editor at the Daily Mail to take up a new role as Prime Minister Theresa May’s official spokesman

Fashion, lifestyle and entertainment

• Lucy Bellamy has been appointed editor at Gardens Illustrated. She takes up her new role in March. Lucy joins Gardens Illustrated from Bauer Media where she was a member of the launch team and Gardening Editor at Modern Gardens
• Wesley Doyle has been appointed editor at Men’s Running
• Tom Rowley has been appointed editor at Healthy For Men
• Tim Auld has been appointed acting deputy editor at the Financial Times’ How To Spend It magazine
• George Garner has been appointed deputy editor at Music Week. He was previously deputy editor at Kerrang!
• Susie Coen has been appointed showbiz reporter at the Daily Mail
• Joe Brewin has been promoted to UK digital editor at FourFourTwo. He was previously digital features editor at the title
• Jane McGuire has been appointed digital editor at Mother&Baby
• There have been a couple of changes on The Resident portfolio. Madeleine Howell has been named assistant editor and will be working on south London titles SW Resident, The Guide Resident and Living South Resident as well as writing London-wide features across the portfolio and online. She is keen to hear about south London stories, including celebrity interview opportunities, arts and culture, homes and interiors, food and travel. Also, Bethan Andrews has been named assistant editor, working on flagship title The Resident and The Hill Resident. Bethan was previously editorial assistant and features writer at the titles
• Henry Tobias Jones has been promoted to features editor at Gentleman’s Journal. He was previously a features writer at the title
• Georgia Murray has been appointed fashion and beauty writer at REFINERY29. She was previously a junior writer at ASOS

Business and finance

• Jon Kennard has been appointed editor at TJ Online. Debbie Carter is now editor in chief at TJ Training Journal
• Sophie Knight has been appointed digital features editor at PARKERS. She was previously web editor at Mother&Baby
• Joseph Link has been appointed assistant editor at Digital Textile
• Jocelyn Timperley has been appointed policy writer at CarbonBrief

Health, science and technology

• Ian Dean has been appointed editor at the Official Playstation Magazine. He replaces former editor Matthew Pellett who has now left the title
• Sarah-Jane Lampe has been appointed editor at New Pathways magazine
• Katia Moskvitch has been appointed chief editor at Professional Engineering. Katia was previously technology editor at Engineering & Technology
• Kevan Christie has been appointed health correspondent at The Scotsman
