Shepherd’s of Westminster #GE2017 Party

Another general election has passed, and to celebrate the blood, sweat and tears that the communications industry has put into the campaign period, Vuelio teamed up with the PRCA and POLITICO to host what was the biggest and certainly most lively general election party of the night, at Shepherd’s of Westminster.

As guests feasted on cocktails and canapés, the conversation remained firmly on what the night’s result would be. After the exit poll came out, the reaction in the room was, much like the rest of the country, one of palpable surprise. And showing that even the most hardened of public affairs experts get it wrong sometimes, our sweep-stake revealed that guests predicted an average of 373 seats for the Conservatives, as opposed to the 318 they actually received.

As specialists in communications and public affairs get to grips with the election result, there’s much work to be done to prepare for what seems like an uncertain future. But, as these specialists will know, one thing is for certain – that there will be as much opportunity for the industry in the next parliament as there was in the last.
