Last updated 25/09/2024.
Vuelio uses a proprietary algorithm to create these rankings, based on topic-related content in blogs on its system – you can read more about the process here. Our research team actively seeks out new blogs and bloggers for inclusion, but if you think we’ve missed someone, please get in touch to let us know.
1. Wadds
PR superstars Stephen and Sarah Waddington stay at number one in our ranking of top UK PR bloggers for another year, and it’s no surprise. Wadds Inc continues to bolster learning, development, and innovation throughout the PR and comms industry through consultation, coaching, research, and social activism. Topical subjects tackled on the blog recently include lower salaries and longer hours for practitioners and how the evolution of news consumption in the UK will impact the comms industry.
Also sticking in the same spot in our line-up this year is Famous Campaigns, where the team takes a look at campaigns from brands big and small across the PR, advertising, communications, and creative sectors. For PRs finding their ideas bank empty, check out this mix of ‘creativity, inspiration, trends, and brand brilliance’ to spark something special. Brands receiving kudos now for their creative campaigns – Heinz, PlayStation, and Nissan.
Moving up a spot for 2024 is All Things IC from internal communications expert Rachel Miller and her team of communication consultants. Here to help internal comms people ‘increase their skills, knowledge, and confidence’ so they can thrive at work, All Things IC offers advice and guidance via the Candid Comms podcast, the newsletter, and of course, the blog. Read up on what the team have learned from their fellow comms pros this month as well as news from the industry.
4. Comms2Point0
This ‘learning and sharing space’ was created by comms professionals seeking to showcase best practice communications and share insights with other creative communicators. Find jobs on offer across the UK, useful resources for upskilling in the ‘toolbox’ section, events and training to check out, and news and features. Find the team’s takes on how the new Labour Government are doing on spin, what Gen Z thought about the General Election, and how to make the most of your time online.
5. Ronke Lawal
Another much respected star of the UK PR sector is Ronke Lawal, who moves up a spot to number 5. Here the Ariatu Public Relations founder shares her passion for ‘enterprise, equality, and equity through inclusive leadership’. Make the most of her experience and expertise by reading recent pieces on becoming a multi-hyphenate success, overcoming the glass cliff effect, the power of visibility, and how to deal with burnout.
Still offering up ‘perspectives at the intersection of business, communication, and technology’ is Neville Hobson via his eponymous digital hub. Designed to ‘inform, inspire, and entertain’, content comes in the forms of articles to read and podcasts to listen to. Prime topics to pick from include artificial intelligence (a particularly popular topic in PR this year), social media, marketing, politics, and the big trends. A useful post for now – telling the difference between genuine pitches and spam.
Another blogger moving up the ranking for 2024 is Dan Slee, who aims to make ‘future comms’ easy with a mix of content on ‘social media, PR, and digital communications’. Back on the topic of AI, Dan has recently covered ways PRs can use generative AI in public sector comms without getting into hot water, as well as how it can be used for the bad, with a deepdive into the recent deepfakes of US presidential hopeful Kamala Harris. Want more from Dan? You can also sign up to receive his weekly email.
Also moving up the ranking is the Amandacomm’s Blog – ‘communicating about crisis, reputation, and more’. A comms professional currently working in the public sector, this blogger looks for ‘new ways to start conversations’ and also seeks to give advice ‘on the communication that I think should be taking place’. Recently discussed on the blog – the hidden elements of crisis communication, dealing with difficult times across the UK, and the dangers of institutional defensiveness.
And a big welcome back to Jessica Pardoe, who returns to our Top 10 UK PR Blog ranking. Originally started as a class project when studying for her PR and business degree, Jessica has continued to blog to share her thoughts on campaigns she loves and her thoughts on the modern PR and comms industry. Check out her pieces on why ‘rage bait’ content is a waste of time, how to cope when the news gets too much, and why AI will never replace proper PR professionals (we agree).
10. UK Black Comms Network Blog
And we finish with the fantastic UK Black Comms Network Blog, where BCN is working to ‘increase the seniority of Black PR and communications professionals in the UK’. Providing learning, resources, inspiration and peer-to-peer networking, the organisation shines a light on industry challenges to enact change. Check out the blog, news, Trailblazers and Leaders, and Emerging Talent sections to find out what’s coming up next and what to sign up for.
