House of Commons
Jo Stevens (LAB) has resigned as Shadow Secretary of State for Wales.
Tulip Siddiq (LAB) has resigned as Shadow Minister for Early Years.
Copeland by-election
- The election will take place on 23rd February.
- Jamie Reed vacated his seat on 23rd January.
- Trudy Harrison has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate.
- Fiona Mills has been selected as the UKIP candidate.
- Jack Lenox has been selected as the Green Party candidate.
- Rebecca Hanson has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate.
Stoke Central by-election
- The election will take place on 23rd February.
- Tristram Hunt vacated his seat on 23rd January.
- Jack Brereton has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate.
- Gareth Snell has been selected as the Labour Party candidate.
- Dr Zulfiqar Ali has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate.

- Backbench Business: Robert Courts (CON) joined; Dan Poulter (CON) left.
House of Lords
- Baroness Wall of New Barnet passed away on 25th January.
Scottish Parliament
Newly approved Cross Party Groups
- Sexual Health and Blood Borne Viruses – Alex Cole-Hamilton (Co-convener), Tom Arthur (Co-convener), Kezia Dugdale (Co-convener), Patrick Harvie (Co-convener)
- Architecture and the Built Environment – Linda Fabiani (Convener)
- Nordic Countries – Maurice Golden (Convener)
- Walking, Cycling and Buses – Alison Johnstone (Co-convener), Claudia Beamish (Co-convener)
Northern Ireland Assembly
- The Assembly was dissolved on Thursday 26th January.
- Michelle O’Neill has been named as the new Leader of Sinn Fein for Northern Ireland.
- Ross Hussey MLA and Douglas Ross MLA (Junior Minister in the Executive Office), have both announced they will not seek re-election in March.
Local Government
- Eamonn Boylan has been appointed the Chief Executive of the new Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and will therefore be vacating his position as Chief Executive of Stockport Council.
European Parliament
This week the Members of the European Parliament will be based in Brussels for Committee and Group meetings, and a Plenary meeting.
- Martin Schulz, former President of the Parliament has announced he will resign his seat this week.
