Political Updates 24 September 2018
This week’s Political Updates covers moves and changes at all levels of government.
Government departments
Dr Hannah Fry, Sarah Staniforth, Steven Underwood, Iain McIntosh, Judith Donovan, Professor Ajit Lalvani, Sir Peter Hendy and Jo Foster and have been appointed to the Science Museum Group Board. The appointments are for terms of four years commencing 8 August 2018 for Sarah, Steven and Iain, 1 February 2019 for Judith and Ajit, and 1 July 2019 for Sir Peter, Jo and Hannah (more info).
Caroline Corby has been appointed as Chair of the Parole Board at the Ministry of Justice. Caroline has served as interim Chair since April and will formally take up post from 1 November 2018 for a tenure of 3 years (more info).
Five members have recently been appointed for four-year terms (ending June 2022) on the following National Park Authorities and Broads Authority (more info):

North York Moors: Patrick James
Peak District: Ken Smith
South Downs: Graham Morrison
Yorkshire Dales: Julie Hutton
Scottish Parliament
Fulton MacGregor replaced Ben Macpherson as a member of the Justice Sub-Committee on Policing.
Welsh Government
Dyfed Edwards has been announced as the first deputy chair of the board of the Welsh Revenue Authority (more info).
European Parliament
This week the European Parliament is in Brussels for committee and group meetings.
