  Government departments

Professor Carole Mundell has been announced as the new Chief Scientific Adviser at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (more info).

Dr Alastair McPhail CMG OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (more info).

Hugh Elliott has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Spain and Non-Resident Ambassador to Andorra at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (more info).

Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford has been appointed as the new British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (more info).

Neil Grant, Paul Kirkman and Jonathan Sands have been appointed as Trustees of the Royal Armouries at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (more info).

Paul Cleal, Dame Sally Coates, Flick Drummond, Ian Livingston, John Maltby, Tristram Mayhew, Lord Iain McNicol, Ndidi Okezie and Ashley Summerfield have been appointed as Board Members of the National Citizen Service Trust at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (more info).

Lisa Hunter has been appointed Director of Communications at the Department for Work and Pensions (more info).

Sue McAllister has been appointed as the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman at the Ministry of Justice (more info).

Twenty-three new Parole Board members have been appointed (12 psychiatrist and 13 judicial) at the Ministry of Justice (more info).

Steve Rowan has been appointed EPO vice president of the European Patent Office Directorate-General Patent Granting Process at the Intellectual Property Office, within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (more info).

Mike Griffiths will stand down as Chief Constable and CEO of the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (more info).

Andy Heldane has been appointed as the Chair of the Industrial Strategy Council at HM Treasury (more info).

Government

Jackie Doyle-Price has been appointed as the first Minister for Suicide Prevention at the Department for Health and Social Care.

    Scottish Government

David Ulph and Francis Breedon have been named as members of the Scottish Fiscal Commission.

  UK Independence Party

Kirstan Herriot has replaced Tony McIntyre as Chair of the UK Independence Party.

European Parliament

This week, the European Parliament will be in Brussels for Committee and Group meetings.
