Most popular journalists for PR professionals
Following the ‘Most popular media titles for PR professionals’, we present the most popular contacts on CisionPoint as part of our Top 10 Top 10s of 2013.
The CisionPoint Media Database is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. Used predominantly by PR professionals, the Media Database lists thousands of journalists, editors, bloggers, newspapers, magazines and websites.
As with the media titles, we’ve measured which profile pages have been visited the most. Again, this doesn’t include appearances in lists or the most searched-for titles and so shouldn’t be taken as the definitive popularity list.
With all that taken into consideration, here is the top 10 from 2013:
-
Amy Dawson, writer for Metro Life & Style
-
Guy Adams, feature writer at the Daily Mail
-
Zoe Bishop, lifestyle editor at Bella
-
Katie Williams, lifestyle editor at Hello!
-
Emily Miller, editor of Pure Beauty
-
Jane Collins, assistant editor and health editor at Bella
-
John Bingham, social affairs editor at the Daily Telegraph
-
Taryn Davies, fashion, beauty and health writer at Female First
-
Hannah Barr, features writer at Fabulous
-
Rebecca Jones, health editor at Yours magazine
The top 10 is largely made up of feature writers, suggesting stronger ties between PRs and features than PRs and news. Cision’s recent Social Journalism Study 2013 revealed that 27% of features journalists didn’t think PRs were a trusted source, opposed to 39% of hard news journalists and 42% of investigative journalists.
What is perhaps surprising is that the list isn’t full of top editors or household names. We’re told again and again by journalists that good PRs take time to build relationships and target the right people – and as the majority of the top 10 are writers (rather than editors), they’re clearly heeding this advice and approaching contacts who will be able to put their PR stories into words.
Contact details for these popular journalists, as well as thousands of others, are available in the CisionPoint Media Database. Of course.
