Final word on news:rewired from Martin Stabe
After an extended lay-off, we’re easing back into blogging with a video (vvvv and >>>>) shot at news:rewired, in which Martin Stabe (ex-Press Gazette, ex-Retail Week, now Interactivity Producer at the FT) offers some thoughts about the evolving newsroom. For those without the two minutes to spare, here’s the executive summary:
- the newsroom can be broadly divided into three functions, covering interactivity, multimedia and data
- these are usually too many skills for one individual, entailing some division of labour
- as such, journalism should no longer be regarded as a specialism, but a combination of many specialisms
