Blogger Spotlight: Kristina Suzanne
An interview with Kristina Suzanne, a lifestyle blogger. Kristina spoke to us what it takes to start a blog, how she measures the success of her site and the five best practices that bloggers should follow for better outreach.
Why should people read your blog? What makes it different? Kristina Suzanne started earlier this year when I found myself needing a hobby and a place to escape to. For a long time I had been a fan of many lifestyle, fitness and beauty blogs as well as watching many YouTuber’s online and enjoyed being a part of the online community even though I was only a viewer at that point.
When I started Kristina Suzanne, I had no idea where it would go or what direction I wanted my blog to take. I decided that my blog would be an extension of me where I could brain drop ideas, life experiences and share content I had a true passion about.
My blog has therefore become a massive part of me as it is me, and that is why I think my blog has something a little different. After all, everyone is unique so my world through my eyes is never going to be the same as someone else’s.
If readers are interested in having an insight to a normal girl next door from England writing about products she enjoys and keeping up to date with her latest adventures then they will enjoy Kristina Suzanne.
How do you measure the success of your website? For me, it was never about numbers. I know many people probably say this but it is true. I started my blog as a personal project for me. A place to write down my thoughts and feelings. To be a positive place full of colour, photos and stories that I could look back on. If my blog helps to inspire just 1 person a day then I consider that to be successful.
What’s your favourite blog and why? There are so many talented writers out there that it is hard to narrow it down to just one. At the moment, I am enjoying reading Dork Face which is written by a young lady called Jemma. I find Jemma very easy to relate to and I think that is why I was instantly drawn into her world through her blog. I particularly enjoy her art journal posts. She is so talented and yet so humble.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?
Be yourself! Write about things that make you happy and topics you are passionate about. Don’t follow a trend if that doesn’t suit you. If you are not honest and true to yourself, your readers will be able to spot it a mile off!
How do you work with marketers and PRs? My blog is still young. I refer to it as my blogging toddler. I have been contacted by PR companies recently and am currently working with them on some exciting projects. But that is all I can say for the moment. I have been sworn to secrecy!
Can you list five best practices for blogger outreach?
1) Build long term relationships with fellow bloggers. It is such a friendly community that it is hard not to really!
2) Take part in the Twitter blog chats. It’s a great place to meet new bloggers, share ideas and ask for advise.
3) Share your content using social media. Social media is your friend!
4) Offer guest posts on your site. This is something I am looking into offering in the near future as i believe it is a great way to introduce a new blogger to your readers and vice versa.
5) Contact brands and ask to work with them. If you generally love their products and want to work with them, get in touch and ask.
What has been your blogging highlight? I found writing my What Is Perfection? post a personal achievement to write as it was something that was very close to my heart having suffered many years with anxiety and the struggles that comes with. Hitting the publish button took a while and it sat in my draft for some time. The content was very raw and real to me and I felt like it was the most personal post I had ever written.
Publishing that was a highlight in my blogging career for me as I felt so many people benefited from reading that including myself.
