Blogger Spotlight: Chris Beastall, Ape to Gentleman

Ape to Gentleman is a men’s grooming, fashion and lifestyle blog which was created to provide informative and engaging content on male grooming including reviews of the best face lotions and skin moisturisers. The author of the blog Chris Beastall uses the blog as a platform to show men how they can use fashion as a catalyst to enrich their lives. Recently featured in our men’s lifestyle ranking, Chris chats to us about how he measures the success of his blog, how he likes to work with PRs and what will be big in his blogosphere in the coming months. 

What’s new on Ape to Gentleman? There’s something new everyday- across men’s fashion, lifestyle and grooming.

How do you measure the success of your website? Number of readers. I feel like the more people that read Ape to Gentleman is a confirmation that we are doing something right.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog? Write about topics you’re passionate about, and be prepared to put the time in.

How do you work with marketers and PRs? New and latest releases are emailed to us directly. We work with them for product images and loans. We also do sponsored content for brands, as long as it’s audience is appropriate of course.

How do you use social media to promote and share content? What are the challenges? We use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Twitter is still fairly wholesome, whereas Facebook is only showing paid for content. Instagram is great for updating our audience on the fly.

What has been your blogging highlight? Interviewing some of the world’s leading figures in their fields like Rafa Nadal.

What will be big in your blogosphere in the coming months? We have some big plans launching soon. Generally, I see bloggers upping the quality of their game- which is good for us all.

What has the Vuelio blog ranking meant to you? It’s great to be acknowledged, and puts Ape’s name on more people’s radars- which is always useful.
