Blogger Spotlight: Alton Williams, Battle Royale with Cheese
Battle Royale with Cheese (also known as BRWC) was created by Alton Williams in 2008 as ‘a bit of fun’, but has now blossomed into one of the leading film blogs, boasting a talented team of contributors who are all united by their love of film. BRWC presents a collection of film reviews, interviews, news, features and detailed commentary. In this spotlight, Alton chats to us about why people should read his blog, how he measures the success of BRWC, and why being listed on our recent film ranking means a great deal to him.
Why should people read your blog? What makes it different? You should read BRWC because we try and review all types of films, have great features, and we are home to the FiLMiX, a thirty-minute mix with a film weaved through it.
How do you measure the success of your website? It’s measured our great following and by the number of emails coming in from indie directors wanting to have their films reviewed!
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog? We know loads of people who want to start a blog, and some do. The problem is some lose interest, as it takes time and patience. So I would advise to stick at it, keep going!
How do you work with marketers and PRs? We try to be open with ideas, and keep contact going with PR. We like helping each other out, so it’s a great relationship.
How do you use social media to promote and share content? What are the challenges? We have Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – we use them to share content from the site, news, images, comps and general fun!
What can PRs do in working better with you? I would love to know more about how they deal with the more established websites such as EMPIRE, and what the differences are.
What has been your blogging highlight? Being invited to London Film Festival and invited to press junkets, like the Avengers press conference!!
What will be big in your blogosphere in the coming months? More great content, more great writers, more BRWC fun!
What does the Vuelio Blog Ranking mean to you and how does it affect your blog? It means a great deal, as it validates all the hard work we put in, and we aim to get higher up the rankings!
