Personal Finance Blogs UK Top 10
This ranking was last updated 11/12/2024.
Vuelio uses a proprietary algorithm to create these rankings, based on topic-related content in blogs on its system – you can read more about the process here. Our research team actively seeks out new blogs and bloggers for inclusion, but if you think we’ve missed someone, please get in touch to let us know.
1. Skint Dad Blog
Staying at the top of our ranking is Skint Dad Blog, where ‘every penny counts’. Bloggers Ricky and Naomi Willis know the value of carefully maintaining a budget – whether you’re looking for ‘practical advice on reducing household expenses, affording a family holiday, preparing for a rainy day, getting out of debt, and boosting income in their spare time, explore our helpful guides, latest deals, and up-to-date consumer news’. Just in time for Christmas – where to find free letter writing workshops for Santa, and making the most of your Clubcard vouchers.
2. Monevator
For motivation with making the most of your money, check out Monevator. Here, The Investor Mark Donald and co-blogger The Accumulator (who sound like superheroes, and perhaps are, for those in need of help with their budgets) share tips and tricks in sections focusing on earning, investing, property, and more. Aiming to ‘inspire, not tell you what to do with your life’, these bloggers share interesting and useful news and tidbits from across the world of finance – check out the best cities for saving money in the UK, and the drawbacks of early retirement.
3. Debt Camel
In need of some ‘independent, impartial, and not-for-profit’ financial advice? Debt Camel is the place for you, where Sara Williams has been sharing her expertise since 2013. Launching the blog to ‘write about what really matters to people who have a debt problem and to talk about the common questions that get asked’, Sara now shares with her dedicated audience on Instagram, keeping longer reads to Debt Camel. Read up on refunds, debt solutions, budgets, credit ratings and much more.
4. The Humble Penny
Those feeling alone with financial stresses can find a ‘community of fearless dreamers taking action to create financial joy in their lives’ over at The Humble Penny. With a core mission to help families remove monetary stress and achieve financial independence, bloggers Ken and Mary Okoroafor cover investing, side hustles, careers, money management, life hacks, product reviews, budgeting, and even relationships and family topics. To check out now – posts on whether to pay off your mortgage early or invest, and whether pensions are still worth it.
5. The Financial Wilderness
Don’t feel lost in the financial wilderness – find your way back to fiscal safety with this blog. Having worked in banking and finance in the UK capital for around ten years, blogger Dan has a passion for sharing what he knows. It’s not all about the practical and serious stuff however – read up in the Lifestyle section for the cheapest way to get Playstation Plus, ruminations on whether Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is worth it, and if you should invest in a breadmaker or stick to what the supermarkets have in stock.
6. Mrs MummyPenny
James Bond can’t help you with saving money, but Mrs MummyPenny – who sounds an awful lot like a certain co-worker of the international spy – can. Focusing on ‘healthy wealth, body, and mind’, blogger Lynn Beattie had worked in commercial finance roles with big brands including EE, Tesco, and HSBC before leaving the corporate world to share her know-how on her blog. Read up on her ‘Healthy Wealth’ topics ‘Financial Planning’, ‘Making Money’, ‘Money Saving’, and ‘Personal finance’ and listen to her podcast for more advice.
Up from last year’s number 8 is Bee Money Savvy, where ‘one-women team’ and founder Emma shares ways to ‘earn more, spend less, [and] save the bees’. ‘Using the tricks found on this website I’ve been able to improve my bank balance by spending less and earning more, all while living more sustainably,’ says Emma, who writes about the techniques and products that have helped her along the way. Alongside the tips for earning more and spending less is the ‘saving the bees’ element – check out recommendations for ethical money and sustainability.
And moving up from number 10 is Black Girl Finance UK Blog from finance coaches Eden Fessahaye, Selina Flavius, Charlene Simms, and Deborah Williams, an ‘award-winning financial coaching company for Black women and women of colour’ launched in 2019. This blog offers financial coaching and regulated advice, including money tips and debt and asset calculators. Not sure where to start? Take the 60 sec debt test, and then dip into ways to create wealthier futures with ‘clear strategies to budget, pay down debt, save and invest’.
‘I’m there to show you that anything is possible when you have the right help,’ says Laura, the blogger behind Savings 4 Savvy Mums. Launched in January 2017, this blog is now trusted by over ‘two million mums’ looking for ‘meal ideas, inventive ways to make money from home, or how to save for a rainy day’. Featured money-saving tips for now – ways to save £££s on tight budgets, the ultimate £1 per head budget meal planning list, slow cooker recipes for the whole family, and frugal living tips to save thousands throughout the year.
10. Working Daddy
And we finish this year’s ranking with a new entrant that will be familiar to readers of our Dad and Parenting blog rankings – Working Daddy Tom. Writing about ‘Life in 360’, Tom doesn’t shirk the harder parts of raising a family – the finances. Find the financial tips every dad should know, tips to boost the value of your home, ideas for retirement travel when the kids have grown up and flown the coop, and how to support your family with bad credit and bridging loans (because parenting never really stops).
Collaborating with bloggers requires mutual respect and understanding: respect their schedules; take time to read their content to learn their interests; and only contact them if/when they want to be contacted. You can see more advice in our blogger spotlights.
Profiles of these blogs and their authors can be found in the Vuelio Media Database.
While we of course hope you find our own blog to be a great and engaging resource, we recognize that there are copious noteworthy blogs out there focusing specifically on the world of finance.
thank you for this article, i have really enjoyed reading this and i will be returning to find out more in the future about private health care
Really like your blog content the way you put up the things…I’ve read the topic with great interest and definitely will stick your blog routinely for other great posts.
Having launched a new site in June 2013 this list will prove useful, although i suspect it will be a challenge to get on their agenda!
Any tips appreciated.
