Top 10 UK Food Blogs
Last updated 14/08/2024
Vuelio uses a proprietary algorithm to create these rankings, based on topic-related content in blogs on its system – you can read more about the process here. Our research team actively seeks out new blogs and bloggers for inclusion, but if you think we’ve missed someone, please get in touch to let us know.
Still at number one in our ranking of the top 10 UK food blogs is Recipes From A Pantry, the project of blogger Bintu. Foodies hungry for ‘good food made with real ingredients, ranging from colorful healthy dishes to decadent desserts and everything in between’ need look no further. This pantry is fully stocked with options for air fryer, instant pot, and crockpot cooking. Each recipe has been thoroughly tested before posting on the blog, so you can leave the hard work to Bintu. Make the most of ideas for your weeknight meals, easy lunches and brunches, special family gatherings, or simple prep for tomorrow’s breakfast.
Another non-mover in our update of our food ranking is superhero-sounding The Curry Guy – alter ego of blogger and author Dan Toombs. Not everyone has the budget (or the strength of stomach) to get takeout from British Indian Restaurants every night, so Dan is here to share recipes for cooking (and eating) at home, whenever you’re in the mood. From the standards like sticky rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, and takeout sauces, to more advanced options, The Curry Guy has a full menu to choose from – all you have to provide is the ingredients and kitchen.
Moving up from number 4 is Kitchen Sanctuary. where cooking couple Nicky and Chris are serving up inspiration for ‘delicious family-friendly food’. Ideas come with easy-to-follow instructions as the blog serves as an online cookbook (each meal carefully consumed and signed-off by their own offspring). With the kids still home from school for the summer, check out this sanctuary’s top choices for times when the weather is warmer – easy pasta salad, BBQ dry rub ribs, and chicken gyros, just for starters.
Want to feed your hunger with something that will make you healthy AND happy? Find ‘family friendly recipes with a healthy twist’, courtesy of Hungry Healthy Happy blogger Dannii. Originally launched in 2011, this blog shares sneaky ways to get a few extra vegetables into diets – ‘HHH (for short) is all about making healthy meals exciting, and enjoying all the other things too,’ says Dannii. Flick through recipes for comfort food, lighter fare, and choices to suit all dietary restrictions (with no restriction on flavour, guaranteed).
Sticking at number 5 is Jane’s Patisserie, where you can find sticky-sweet, and more savoury, bakes from Jane Dunn (who also features in our ranking of top baking bloggers). This blogger’s aim is simple – ‘my goal with this blog is to give you the fun, laughter, confidence and knowledge to bake and cook whatever you fancy’. Not quite sure what you fancy right now? Dip into recent recipes including peach blueberry cake, vegan carrot cake, red velvet cake truffles, and the very doable three ingredient Biscoff mousse.
Up from number 8 in our ranking is Sandhya’s Kitchen, offering all things plant-based. Both vegan and vegetarian readers can pick from instant pot and airfryer recipes – no professional-sized kitchen with all the associated accouterments needed. Sandhya is a former IT engineer, so understands all the technicalities that go into creating something robust – check out her recently shared recipes for paneer bhurji, tofu fried rice, south indian style potato curry, palak paneer paratha, and cauliflower flatbreads to go on the side.
7. Pinch of Nom
Offering their readers much more than just a pinch of good stuff is the Pinch of Nom team, who have been sharing ‘tried and tested slimming recipes and helpful information’ since the blog’s launch in 2016. When starting their own slimming journey, the team ‘quickly discovered that if we wanted to eat healthy food that actually tastes good… we’d have to make the recipes ourselves’. Ideas are filed under sections on the blog including fakeaways, quick meals, stews & soups, and bakes & roasts. Want more? Check out their 11 best-selling books, too.
Moving up two spots from last year’s update is That Girl Cooks Healthy, where Charla writes about ‘all things gluten and dairy-free’. ‘I make it my mission to showcase modern and traditional Caribbean recipes with emphasis being on healthy, where possible,’ says Charla. ‘What are you waiting for, let’s get cooking!’ To cook (and eat) now – entrees including garlic butter chicken, vegan paella, and jackfruit chili; Caribbean dishes like air fried plantain, green banana porridge, and jerk shrimp pasta, as well as mocktails to wash it all down.
Hopefully familiar to fans of baking is Lavender and Lovage, which also features in our ranking of Top 10 UK Baking Blogs. Here blogger, food stylist, recipe developer, and food and travel writer Karen Burns-Booth is plating up ‘food and travel from home and abroad’ for her readers. Latest posts offer suggestions for platables ready to go and perfect for the summer heat, when working in a hot kitchen for hours on end might not sound like a fun use of time. Check out her country cottage recipes for afternoon tea and instructions for creating a traditional ploughman’s lunch.
10. Vikalinka
We finish our ranking of top UK food blogs with a new entry – Vikalinka, from London-based recipe developer and photographer Julia Frey. Founded in 2012, this blog’s main mission is to provide readers with ‘delicious and accessible everyday recipes, which can be enjoyed by everyone’. ‘So much of my life is taken up by cooking due to my hungry children and husband,’ says Julia. ‘You will become witness to my culinary endeavours if you choose to stay around’. Stick around for summer grilling, pasta, dessert, and much more.
