LGBTQ+ Blogs UK Top 10
The Top 10 LGBTQ+ ranking was last updated 26/06/2024.
Vuelio uses a proprietary algorithm to create these rankings, based on topic-related content in blogs on its system – you can read more about the process here. Our research team actively seeks out new blogs and bloggers for inclusion, but if you think we’ve missed someone, please get in touch to let us know.
1. Nomadic Boys
Kings of the world – and this blog ranking – are Nomadic Boys Stefan and Sebastien, who move into the number one spot. Traveling the globe and blogging to ‘inspire and show gay travelers that they can visit more places in the world than they thought possible’, the Nomadic Boys cover the amazing places they’ve been in the Destinations section; aspirational ideas for future breaks in the Inspirations channel; and list extra useful things you need to know under Travel Resources, for reference before you set out on your own next adventure.
Fellow travelers in our ranking of top LGBTQ+ bloggers – who are also rising up this year’s rundown – are Sion and Ben, aka The Globetrotter Guys. Here you can find ‘gay travel guides from all over the world’ which aim to gift readers with ‘informative, fun, and safe travel tips’. Not sure where in the world to go this summer? Check out their guides to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Belfast, and the Philippines, which go much further than the main tourist attractions, including the best hotels, beaches, and bucket list-worthy experiences.
3. Yet Another Transgender Blog
Moving up from number five is Yet Another Transgender Blog, where Lynn Jones explores a myriad of issues with an aim to connect with others ‘walking a similar patch’. ‘Am I an authority, or an expert? No, I’m just someone trying to make the best of things and if folk are interested, I’ll share what I know,’ says Lynn. Recent topics tackled on YATGB take in the stresses, and joys, of family life; messages of support to young Transgender people across the country; and useful coping mechanisms when dealing with intolerance.
Up from seven is a blog aiming to ‘challenge society’s misconceptions, one day at a time’ – Our Transitional Life. Launched as a space to help others out there find ‘positive and uplifting stories to hold onto’, OTL’s content channels include LGBTQ Resources, Transgender Support, Personal Experiences, as well as Beauty & Fashion, and Reviews. The practicalities as well as the nice-to-haves feature in recent posts advising on ways to feel beautiful inside and out, life after gender-affirming surgery, and even cybersecurity.
Also moving up our ranking, from last year’s number eight, is Laura Kate Magnet-Dale, who covers subjects ranging from the ‘serious’ to ‘silly’. Here readers can dip into content (both written, and in video formats) on comics, gaming, music, podcasts, TV, film, disability and accessibility, alongside LGBTQ-focused posts. Recent pieces cover gaming’s audio description interactivity hurdle, Hades 2’s accessibility issue, and picks from the Summer Games Fest Season. Want more from Laura, silly or serious? Check out the podcast Queer and Pleasant Strangers.
Find ‘news and views from Stonewall and beyond’ on the charity’s blog, covering launching and ongoing campaigns happening across the world, alongside news for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Particularly useful now – Stonewall’s latest post explaining three ways to engage your local candidates in the 2024 General Election ahead of 4 July. ‘We have an opportunity to create meaningful change for the LGBTQ+ community,’ say the team – head to the blog for how to help push change forward, and make your vote matter.
7. Daddy & Dad
Daddy & Dad – Jamie and Tom – are no strangers to Vuelio’s blog rankings, also featuring in our list of top UK dad bloggers. These two dads aim to cover all aspects of family life, from conception and adoption, to creating supportive family structures that will help children to thrive. Now parenting teenagers themselves, the bloggers have plenty of advice and support for parents with kids in the same age bracket. Find recommendations for birthdays and how to ‘brave the storm’ of GCSE season.
8. Homotopia
Moving up two spaces this year is Homotopia, which has been pushing to make a ‘cultural impact through art and activism’ since its launch in 2003. Aiming to provide support and a platform to ‘local, national, and international LGBTQIA socially engaged artists and creatives’, the Liverpool arts and social justice organisation shares updates on its blog. Here you can find information on exhibitions and ongoing projects, including Homotopia’s most recent project – a celebration of the life and art of Holly Johnson. Go take a look on the blog to find out more.
A welcome back to our ranking of top LGBTQ+ UK blogs to Queer Little Family, where Ren shares their ‘life and journey into parenthood, with diversions into mental health, being nonbinary and queer as all hell, cats, days out, and more’. Based in Wales, the blogger covers news and insight from the region alongside news and updates of interest to readers across the country. Recent pieces share their thoughts on Welsh nationalism and Queer Pride in 2024, what’s happening in UK politics, and how to navigate Seasonal Affective Disorder.
10. A Spiral Dance
And a big welcome to a new blogger joining our ranking this year – A Spiral Dance, where Amanda has been writing about ‘living an unconventional life’ since 2006. While the focus on the blog has changed since its launch, these days Amanda shares on health and disability, LGBTQ+ issues, and impactful books. For fellow avid readers, make some time to dip into the 80+ LGBTQ+ books recommended on the blog, check out advice on finding your style later in life, and take note of ways you can help make change in the world.
Collaborating with bloggers requires mutual respect and understanding: respect their schedules; take time to read their content to learn their interests; and only contact them if/when they want to be contacted. You can see more advice in our blogger spotlights. Profiles of these LGBTQ+ blogs and their authors can be found in the Vuelio Media Database.
Great list. I particularly like the Yet Another T-Girl blog – there’s quite a lot on there that I can relate to personally.
We’re absolutely over the moon about this! Thank you so much for including us x
Thanks for the inclusion on this list. I’m quite honoured by this.
One note.. my blog was started in 2008 not 4 years ago. Just so you know ?
While not strictly LGBT, as a gay traveler and a top travel blogger, I make a point of covering LGBT news, politics and travel tips in my stories at http://travelsofadam.com/ – I’m also a regular contributor to LGBT publications focused mostly on travel topics.
