Speedy Spotlight: Tea Party with Alice
Cision is set to unveil UK’s top 10 beauty blogs today but before we get to that, let’s have a look at the fresh perspective that Alice the author of a new blog, Tea Party with Alice, brings to the beauty blogosphere.
Why should people read your blog?
Whilst there are thousands of beauty blogs out there, I like to think that Tea Party With Alice is a light-hearted blog that takes beauty seriously, but delivers it in a casual, easy-to-read way.
What makes your blog different?
I think my approach is what makes me stand out more. I’m not trying to save lives by writing a blog – I’m doing it because I enjoy writing, I enjoy fashion, beauty and interior. I don’t conform to the latest trends just to have something to write about, if I think a product might work for me, or interest me – only then will I write about it.
What’s your favourite blog and why?
Probably TheLondoner.me because it’s exceptionally well written, covers all manners of topics (fashion/beauty/food/lifestyle) and the writer is rather beautiful to look at.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a blog?
Do it for yourself. There are so many blogs nowadays that the whole community is getting rather over saturated with people doing it for the wrong reasons. I didn’t start my blog with the intention to work with PRs, it’s something that’s come off the back of working hard on my content, and posting regularly. If you’re not doing it for yourself, it’ll soon be apparent.
How does a good PR work with you?
Try and build a relationship with me! Be friendly, read a post or two to get an idea of my style so that they can tailor their approach to feel less generic.
What do PRs do that’s bad?
Like above, I don’t like getting template emails that aren’t even vaguely shaped for me. Sometimes I even get referred to as Tea Party With Alice! My name’s Alice, that’s probably the easiest bit.
What was your blogging highlight of 2013?
I think just reaching over 1,000 followers in a year. That and having my blog reach Top 6 beauty blogs Worldwide on BlogLovin’.
What will be big in your blogosphere in 2014?
To be honest, I don’t blog to become ‘big’, but I’ll continue to work hard and grow my blog as best I can because I love doing it. I’ve just got a new DSLR camera so I’ll be working on more fashion posts, lifestyle posts – and just improving the general quality of the content I currently write.
