Top 10 blog posts of 2013
The Top 10 Top 10s is building momentum as we approach the end of the year. The top 10 blog posts is full of controversy, infographics and even a late contender.
We’ve measured unique visitor traffic to our top blog posts, in a year which saw our audience numbers go through the roof.
In reverse order (because it’s more exciting):
10. Evening Standard Television: London Live
Stavrini Koumi investigates the upcoming channel, talking to Andrew Mullins, CEO of London Live, about the team behind the venture, and the ins and outs of what it means for the UK’s media landscape.
9. NHS – Calling all PR miracles
Priyanka Dayal argues that the NHS has never needed more attention than it does today. Reflecting on reports of NHS failings, Priyanka discusses how an integrated approach to its PR operations could help the NHS through difficult times.
8. Journalist Spotlight: Oliver Thring
The only interviewee to make the top 10 blog posts, Oliver Thring, then assistant food editor at The Sunday Times Magazine, spoke to Jake O’Neill about trends in the food industry, wanting ‘more’ PR and being played in a film by Whoopi Goldberg. Oliver was later promoted to assistant editor of The Sunday Times’ News Review and joined Cision for Breakfast in December.
7. INFOGRAPHIC: Hugh Grant is a Daily Mail favourite
Using Cision’s Media Impact Reports, Jake looked at Hugh Grant’s media impact as if he were a brand. His value was high but the newspaper which covered him the most was perhaps surprising. Or perhaps not.
6. INFOGRAPHIC: What does Twitter think of HS2?
Proving more popular on Twitter than we could have anticipated, Jake’s sentiment analysis measures Twitter mentions of the HS2 project and plots them on a map. Comparing the official route with the tweets tells its own story.
5. Some PRs are just plain nasty
The straight-talking Fleet Street Fox gives her opinion on the current state of PR and media relations. With a blog post title like that, you can imagine how she feels.
4. #JingleBlogs: Guido Fawkes
Published very late into the year, the UK’s number one blog was profiled for our festive advent calendar. Guido author Paul Staines told us the worst Christmas present he ever received was an injunction and a serious allegation.
3. Brand Malala: PR phenomenon or target?
Is the publicity around Malala Yousafzai a benefit to her a cause or a threat to her personal safety? Priyanka explores both sides of this delicate situation.
2. No mummy bloggers allowed – Why I founded Cybher
Siân To, founder of Cybher, explains the motivations behind her UK female blogger event and the work she does with brands. Chances are, if you’re a parenting blogger in the UK, you saw this post in August.
1. How many tweets make a trend?
The question on everyone’s lips in 2013 and one which Jake tries to answer. You may think this is an unattainable goal, but worldwide trends are possibly easier than you realise…
Thank you to all our readers in 2013. The Cision UK editorial team will endeavour to continue supplying great quality content in 2014. See you there.
