House of Commons
- Graham Brady MP has been appointed Deputy Chair of the Centre for Policy Studies.
Copeland by-election
- Trudy Harrison won the seat on 23rd February for the Conservative Party, with 13,748 votes and a majority of 2,147.
Stoke Central by-election
- Gareth Snell won the seat on 23rd February for the Labour Party, with 7,853 votes and a majority 2,620.
Select Committees
- Women and Equalities – Ruth Cadbury (Lab) left; Holly Lynch (Lab) joined.
- Procedure – Holly Lynch (Lab) left; Chris Elmore (Lab) joined.
House of Lords
- Lord Dixon has passed away. He was a member of the Lords between 1997 and 2016.
Scottish Parliament
Newly approved Cross Party Groups
- Dementia – Richard Lyle (SNP)
- Beer and Pubs – Patrick Harvie (Scottish Green Party)
Northern Ireland Assembly
- The election for the Assembly is this Thursday 2nd March.
- The number of MLAs is being reduced from 108 to 90 members.
Local Government
- Mark Rogers is leaving his position as Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council.
- Andrew Lloyd has retired as Chief Executive of Rushmoor Borough Council.
- David Flagg (Con) has been elected Leader of Christchurch Borough Council following a motion of no confidence in former leader Ray Nottage.
European Parliament
This week the Members of the European Parliament will be based in Brussels for Committee and Group meetings, and a Plenary meeting.
